You can win a concert on the United Island with the Goethe-Institut

Language and music are closely linked. Both language and music are characterized by rhythm, poetry, melodies - and both are constantly changing thanks to fresh impulses. The path to the stage is often complicated for new, young music. Innovative musicians face many challenges to overcome – but also many opportunities. Your impulses and creativity are important to us, which is why we are organizing a competition for young musicians. You can win your own concert at the United Islands of Prague 2023 festival. The winners will be on stage for the 20th anniversary - on May 5th or 6th.

HOW CAN YOU PARTICIPATE?
Send the application with the sound recording of your songs by 18/03/2023. The final round will take place at the turn of March and April in your rehearsal rooms.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE?

• You are a couple or a group with a joint musical project.
• Most of you are primary or secondary school students (at the time of 5/5/2023).
• You are at least 14 years old.
• You have the opportunity to be in Prague on 5 or 6 May 2023 and you are ready enough to play a maximum of 30 minutes on stage at the United Islands of Prague 2023 festival.
• You are able to play at least one song in German.
• You are not a cover band and can play at least five of your own songs.
• You bring your own instruments (stage equipment will be provided by the organizer).

WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE?

• Send us recordings of three of your songs as audio files. In total, recordings should be no longer than 15 minutes. At least one of the songs must be in German - you can either write this song yourself, or in this case it can also be a cover version. Be creative!
• Send your contribution to the Goethe-Institut by March 18, 2023

JURY
A jury consisting of representatives of the Goethe-Institut and the United Islands will select the three best entries from all submitted projects by 3/31/2023. The selected applicants will be visited by the jury during the final round between 1 and 14 April 2023 and will listen to the songs that the musicians want to play at the festival. Based on this audition, the jury will select the winning band and announce it no later than 17/04/2023.
